Happy New Year!!!

Hello Polenta Famlies,

Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with many successes and continued progress. During the break, I hope you had the chance to catch up with friends and family and enjoy some rest and relaxation. I certainly spent some time reflecting on 2018 and think about the work and opportunities that lie ahead in 2019.  I am very excited about all that this second semester has in store for our students and the great growth that they will make as we embark on the second half of the school year.

I would like to extend my very sincere thanks to the families and students who shared very thoughtful holiday gifts and cards.  I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your kindness and generosity during the Holiday Season. Thank You!

Polenta Elementary continues to strive to become a school focused on educational equity and finding unique and innovative ways to partner, support and create opportunities that make our school a place where all children enjoy learning, develop strong relationships, and continue to grow each day socially, emotionally, and academically. As always, thank you for your continued support.

End Of First Quarter

Hello Polenta Family,

It is hard to believe we are at the end of the first quarter for the year!!!  While we have certainly had a few weather obstacles along the way, it has been a great start to the school year.  As we move in to the second quarter, I am excited about the great things going on here at Polenta Elementary.

Thank you so much for the out pouring of support for our read-a-thon!!!  It is such an honor to serve in a community that is so willing to give back.  As a result the PTA is able to provide technology for our classrooms and swings for our playground.

We also had a fabulous time at our Back To School Dance!!!  We had lots of dancing, food, and music for this event.  This was a great success and we look forward to our Valentine's Day Ball in February.

Additionally, Polenta is proud to have the opportunity to participate in the first ever Cleveland Proud Day, held at Cleveland High School on Saturday, November 3rd from 10am-1pm.  Polenta will be represented by a chorus performance and art display.  This is a great community event that we are honored to be a part of.

Finally, student-led conferences will be held for grades 3-5 on Thursday, November 8th from 5-7pm.  This is an opportunity to review the work that your child has been involved in for the first nine weeks, as well as setting goals for the second quarter.  K-2 student-led conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 13th from 5-7pm.  The K-2 conferences are a reschedule from the original date of November 6th.  This date was changed to allow everyone the time to get out a vote on election day!

Please be sure to frequently check our website for information and upcoming school events.  You can also follow our Twitter and Facebook pages for school happenings.

Thank you for allowing us to serve your children each and every day!!  Happy Fall Everyone!!

Educationally Yours,
Kristina Benson

Beginning of Year 2018-2019

First Day of School
From the Principal’s Desk...

It’s finally here!

I am so exited to begin this school year and look forward to a wonderful year full of learning and growing together!

To our new family members we extend a huge “WELCOME.”  Polenta Elementary School is committed to providing each child with a productive learning environment that meets the academic, social, and developmental needs of every student.

As we work towards achieving the JoCo 2020 vision, we will continue to empower our students to enrich their world by facilitating learning relationships and relevant, innovative experiences.  Our skilled and devoted staff is already planning and preparing for your child(ren). Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. Additionally, our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning.

Please review our school handbook and teacher web sites on our Polenta Elementary School site.  Our school supply lists are also located on our site.  Thank you in advance for sharing your most precious and valuable gift with us, your child.

I am looking forward to this school year and the awesome things that will be happening here to ensure that our students are successful!  We look forward to working with you this year.  See you soon!

Respectfully,
